I used to watch this show, and so I can resist pointing you toward this great article on memory strategies reported by a cognitive scientist who made it onto the show. Did he become a millionaire? It's a great read for anyone studying memory.
wow!! i wish that was me winning a million dollars. it is amazing how your brain works and saves various information. that you might had not spent that much time on.
That was so amazing. This man was able to go back into his memory to retrieve information in so many different ways. He was able to talk about a conversation he had with a friend and then was able to get the answer right! Then he would but himself in THAT question and keep repeating the answers, unreal!
I watch the show on television, and I play the game along with them. I have exercise my brains also with out making a million dollars. Those questions can be hard. but it is a lot of fun. It's amazing how your brains operate.
Boy I tell you it is really amazing how the brain works. You get a piece of information and whether you know it or not your brain stores it like in a filing cabinet. Then when you least think about it you need the information and your brain subconsciously finds the information it stores and brings it to the tip of the tongue. I would like to win a million dollars.
wow thats amazing! i bet he was kicking himself hard for not going ahead and saying "william, final answer." a million dollars is a ton of money! but it really is incredible how his knowledge of how to employ his memory took him that far in the show.
I think that was an interesting article that gave me some pointers on testing for school. I have very bad test anxiety. I think he was soo foolish for not giving that last answer and recieving that million dollars. He did great though.
This article is great. Its amazing what you can remember if you just use different ways to go back in time. Maybe this will be helpful for tests in the future:)
I would have to spend some time training my brain to work on command for me like that. I often find that one thing: smell, touch, something I see will led me to many memories that I may not always be aware of. I might try to work on recalling information and linking it together. I wish he had kept going just to see if the thing would have worked till the end, but he has a dream and stopping point too.
wow. I can't honestly say I wouldn't have walked with the money either, but a million dollars! I wish I could say that I would've stayed too but it's funny how people's brains work like that. It's crazy that simple conversations and words can help you remember the answer to tough questions like that.
This article definately shows how complex the brain is. To be able to recall conversations and simple stuff just becaused it is subconesciously linked to one another. Also how words of another person can either reinforce your thoughts or degrade them. I honestly think that i would never even make it on the show, but if i did some how i would have kept going and took the risk. To keep pondering over something repaetly will just confuse me even more. I would have said my first thought and wished for the best.
Wow..this is absolutly crazy. Its so interesting to see how just a simply conversation and just simple words can help you remember stuff, and a million dollars sure is a motivator.
Honetly, I would like to think I could stimulate my memory and key up answers to the questions, but I do not know how my body would respond to that type of stress. It would be nice to have a chance at a million dollars and it would be well worth the stress!
that was a very good strategy, i have tried that on test that ive taken i have also guessed on all my answers and got the same and i quckly used the hindsight bias on my friends
That was really neat that he could stimulate his brain to win a million dollars. It was amazing that some questions he didn't even really know, but he went back in his memory to retrieve information that would help him in solving the problems. -April Woolard (WHS)
This article was very interesting. It is amazing to think just by using certain psychological methods could help you think straight. Just by talking about certain things cause you to jog your memory and to come up with the answer even when under pressure. The most astonishing part was he used it to help win money. He knew how to "play" the game. Susan Braddy(WHS)

It's truly amazing how the brain works. You never know what you are able to remember until you really try to retrieve those memories.
Its amazing to see how this man jogged his memory in order to know the correct answers on millionaire
I think that is awesome! I'm going to try to use this concept on my Chemistry test friday!

You have to use whatever method possible to get what you want. I would figure out something simple also if I had a chance to win a million dollars
